What is Conscious Coaching?
People often ask me what I mean by conscious coaching and how it differs from psychotherapy.
Conscious coaching is the approach I use to support clients in developing a deeper awareness of themselves, their patterns, beliefs, values, and how they move through the world.
Drawing on my experience as a psychotherapist, I help clients slow down, listen in, and notice the stories they may be telling themselves. Together, we explore how these stories have shaped their choices, relationships, careers, and overall sense of fulfilment.
For example, I recently worked with a senior professional in an academic setting who began to recognise that, while she had achieved a great deal and built a successful career, she had unknowingly recreated an environment that her parents would have admired and valued, but one that no longer felt aligned with who she truly was.
This awareness created space for an important question:
"Am I ready to create a life and environment that better reflects who I am?"
For many of us, somewhere along the way, we lose touch with our true selves; the authentic, vibrant, intuitive parts of us. We become skilled at fitting in, meeting expectations, pleasing others, and seeking recognition. We build lives that look successful from the outside, yet internally something can feel unsettled, disconnected, or no longer quite right.
Conscious coaching is not psychotherapy. It does not focus on treating mental health difficulties or processing deeper psychological wounds. Instead, it is a future-focused approach that helps you identify what no longer fits, what feels out of alignment, and what you may be ready to move towards.
It invites you to ask:
What truly matters to me?
What values do I want my life to reflect?
What strengths and abilities have I overlooked?
What excites me?
What might be possible if I trusted myself more deeply?
Through increased awareness comes greater choice.
And with choice comes the opportunity to create a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and authentically your own.
If any of this resonates with you, I would love to hear from you. I offer a complimentary introductory call where we can explore what is bringing you here and whether conscious coaching might be the right support for you at this stage of your journey.
You don't have to have it all figured out before you begin. Sometimes, all that is needed is the willingness to become curious about yourself and courageous enough to take the next step.
